Beer making and beer tasting courses offered
How-to of making beer – from brewing to bottling.
The purpose of this 2 ½ hour course is to provide the participants with a good theoretical knowledge of the beer making process and all of its components. This course is for anyone who would like to learn more about beer, who would want to start brewing beer at home or for those who have already made beer but would like a better understanding of the concepts and/or who would want to venture into making more complex recipes.
Minimum of 8 participants.
Prices:
8 to 12 participants: $45 per person.
13 to 20 participants: $580 for the group.

A step-by-step practical course.
This 3 hour course is for anyone who has been brewing beer from kits or from malt extract recipes and who would now want to move on to brewing beer from grain. It can also be for someone with no previous brewing experience, but who has a very good theoretical knowledge of brewing and fermentation. A small all-grain batch of beer will be brewed in this course by the instructor.
Minimum of 8 participants, maximum of 16.
Prices:
8 to 12 participants: $60 per person.
13 to 16 participants: $55 per person.
(Perfect for microbreweries. An alcohol permit is required since beers will be tasted.)
The participants of this 1 to 1 ½ hour course will learn about the four basic components of beer. They will get to see, smell and taste samples of some of these ingredients. They will also learn the role of each component in the final product and on how their roles affect the taste and balance of a beer
The participants will also get to taste four different types of microbrewed beers. Each beer will be tasted throughout the length of the course to learn how to recognize the different components. They will also learn about balanced taste and distinguishing features for the different styles. Participation from the group will be encouraged.
Minimum of 16 participants.

Wine Component and Tasting Course
Wine Component and Tasting Course
(An alcohol permit is required since wines will be tasted.)
The purpose of this 2 hour course is to give the participants the opportunity to understand how the balance of flavour components in red and white wine form the basis of their structure and how each component, separately and together, can change our perception of the wine as a whole.
The participants will be tasting five different solutions against both a red and a white wine in order to recognize these flavours in the wines and understand their roles. By the end of the course, the participants will have a better understanding of what makes up a wine and how to recognize a balanced, and therefore a pleasant tasting wine. They will also recognize which components they prefer which will help them when choosing a wine in the future.
Minimum of 16 participants.

About the instructor:
I am a dynamic, fully bilingual (English and French) person with 30 plus years of experience in the field of beer and wine making. I have a certificate in advanced brewing and I have taught countless courses in the field of beer and wine for various groups – cities, microbreweries, organizations, clients of businesses and even at a CEGEP. I have also spoken at conferences and I have been interviewed on the radio, television and on a podcast as an expert in beer and/or wine. I have also owned and operated a successful and very well-regarded beer and wine making shop.
Based in the West Island, I offer to teach these courses at your facility (in the Greater Montreal area).
FAQ
Q: Do I need any specialized equipment for the courses?
A: No. The instructor will bring all equipment deemed necessary for that particular course.
Q: What type of space and/or furnishings will I need to host a course?
A: For the Beer and Wine Tasting courses, all that is needed are chairs and tables for the participants and a small table for the instructor.
For the Theoretical Beer Making course, chairs and tables for the participants, as well as a way for the instructor to project a slide presentation from her laptop is what is needed.
For the All-Grain Beer Brewing course, the space provided for this course would have to come equipped with some counter space, access to an electrical plug as well as access to a water source (sink and tap). Chairs for the participants would also be required.
Q: How far in advance do I need in order to book a course?
A: The minimum time required is two weeks, but it could be as far ahead as one year.
We have had the pleasure of working with Anik in the past and it has been a great experience for both us and our clients. Her course is very easy to follow because she is able to make the content very accessible to everyone. We will continue to work with her in the future.
